How much is the maximum income to qualify for HUD assistance?
How much rent do I pay?
Can I have a pet?
What utilities are included in the rent payment?
These figures change periodically. Currently, it is as follows:
The applicant/household's combined MONTHLY income FROM ALL SOURCES MUST BE LESS THAN:
$1,540 GROSS for a Berkshire studio apartment (3 only) (c380 sq.ft.)
$1,734 GROSS for a Berkshire one bedroom apartment (44) (c480 sq.ft.)
$1,974 GROSS for a Berkshire two bedroom apartment (3 only) (c700 sq.ft.)
$1,684 NET for a Jadwin one bedroom apartment (24) AFTER medical expenses are deducted (c520 sq.ft.)
Rent is based upon income. Briefly, all your income (i.e. Social Security, SSI, Pensions, Dividends, Interest, Wages) is totaled; then all your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. Medicare, Medicare Supplement, Prescriptions paid by you) are subtracted, giving you a NET income. Your rent is roughly 30% of the monthly NET income. A security deposit equally one month's rent is required.
Yes, one pet is allowed if it weighs under 40 pounds. Written records are required showing the pet has a license and their shots are up-to-date. A pet deposit equaling one month's rent (which can be paid in three monthly payments) is required.
All utilities are included except telephone and television. This includes heating and air conditioning.
